baby sugar snap peas
two kinds of mint and two kinds of basil. the zinnias and marigolds self-sowed from last year.
baby persian melon
there are also lots of bell peppers!
last night I made baked eggplant layered with tomatoes and roasted red bell from the garden. not from the garden there was also garlic, onion and spinach. the sliced eggplant on the top layer was spread with chevere mised with fresh mint and basil, then coated in bread crumbs.
it is the most amazing thing to go out into the yard and pick food for cooking. I need more! I planted the baby peas, and when the tomatoes are spent, I will grow spinach and greens in their place. with the long growing season here, there is no reason not to garden year round.
also, as much as I enjoy flowers, I don't think they will ever be focus again. I enjoy the flowers that came up on their own in my herb garden, but I probably wont go out of my way to plant any.
